Job purpose :

Drive a heavy vehicle (semi-trailer) to transport goods from a shipper to a consignee.

Principal responsibilities :

Drive a heavy vehicle and deliver cargo.

• Check the condition of the vehicle (RDS) at the start of the shift and at the end of the shift;
• Drive a truck or articulated vehicles with a total weight of more than 4,500 kg, with two or more axles, respecting the internal instructions and the rules of the competent authorities;
• Maintain contact with the terminal dispatch department for direction, supervision, destinations and other instructions;

Ensure safe stowage of cargo and supervise loading and unloading activities

• Ensure proper condition of tie-down equipment;
• Ensure that loading and unloading are done in a proper manner to ensure the safety and security of the cargo;

Ensure the documentary management in connection with the vehicle and the delivery

• Have on hand, prior to departure, the necessary transport permits and any other document required for the transport of a cargo on an international route;
• Keep the daily log up to date;
• Ensure that the equipment provided is kept in good order and that a report is completed for any defects.
